The heavens tell of the glory of God …

sunset 6 27 15The sky, aglow with peach and white light, caused my eyes to squint as we drove toward home. Geometric forms of sunlight filtered through the pine trees along the road. To my left was the silver blue of the ocean before dusk, curving in from the still-green peninsulas surrounding it. Fingers of fog crept along above the sea, mountain peaks visible behind. What beauty.

“The heavens tell of the glory of God.
The skies display his marvelous craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
They speak without a sound or a word;
their voice is silent in the skies,
Yet their message has gone out to all the earth,
and their words to all the world.”

Psalm 19:1-4a, New Living Translation

As we drove into our yard and stepped out of the car, our two dogs raced each other to get to the house first. Don and I looked at the sky, now turning dusky blue. Venus and Neptune twinkled at us, their lights bright in the now dusky blue sky. We’ve watched them move apart since they were at their closest a week or so ago. I’m reminded of God’s faithfulness as I watch the beauty of his creation, its set pattern throughout the day and night. He never fails.
